We carry out remedial treatments so that urushi objects can withstand being displayed and/or transported.
Treatment is focused only on damaged coatings/decorations that are likely to come off, or damaged areas that come into contact with hands or packing materials so that the object can be handled safely, even if only temporarily.
We also actively participate in rescue work of cultural properties in the event of a disaster.
This includes the temporary evacuation of damaged artworks and historic objects, not only for urushi objects but also for cultural properties in general.
Examples
- Cleaning
- Consolidation of the urushi coatings
- Re-adhering pieces of metal foils and mother-of-pearl
